Hello everybody. I need some advice. One of my babies that I got Thursday has what looks like an eye infection. She looked good yesterday, but this morning when I went out to feed them her left eye was slightly swollen, a little red and had mucus in it. I seperated her from her three other siblings and started flushing the eye with warm sterile water every three hours or so. After the last feeding tonight the eye looked much better. It's not swollen or red anymore but still had a little mucus in it. I wanted to know if the is anything else I can do for her. She is eating very well, has no nasal discharge and is playing when she gets her belly full. I don't hear anything in her lungs. Well I hope to hear from someone soon. If it's still the same in the morning I'll take her to the vet.

Hopefully it was just something in her eye and it will look normal again by morning. :)
If you feel there is a need to continue to flush it, saline would be better than plain (sterile) water as it is closer to the eye's pH. Plain water would be a little irritating itself and could cause the eye to produce mucus to compensate. (fyi - this is not a medical opinion, just a thought).

You're right, it must of been something in her eye. It's clear this morning. No mucus, it looks normal. Thanks for the advice. I'll remember the saline too.
Thanks
