Hammy is my male squirrel. i got him about 3 days ago... hes is, i would say, about 5 weeks old. hes got his eyes open, hes got fur allover. hes active. How i came to get him was. at my job, the city of Jacksonville was ripping apart a house across the street. well in the process they took down a tree. and out came 2 baby squirrels. my step dad, who also works with me, found them. i and a co-worker got a baby squirrel. How i did not get to feed hammy the first day i got him until late... i just made sure he was warm before i feed him. now it is day two, and hammy had been eating... now pooping or peeing i am a little concerned. later that night on day two. i stimulated him a bit and got him to pe. and poop JUST a little bit. now i was feeling better. now day three and he is eating GOOD. peeing on his own once. BUT NOT POOPING on his own. now i try stimulating him allot, to poop, today. but hes not pooping. he sleeps allot but he gets hyper and wants to play. i am going to wait until tomorrow and see if he poops then, but i feed him regularly. about 3ml. every 4 to 6 hours. i am feeding him Just Born Milk replacer. its for puppy's. he seams to like it. i dont know if this is not good for him or not. i dont know if this is why he is not pooping or not. but he did poop a bit the second day. if any one can help me out. i would be grateful. thanks...
AdamLhot, Hello and :Welcome.
First at that age Hammy should be eating a lot more. You will find help on feeding and diet here, both for now and when he's older.
I don't know anything about the milk replacer you're using by all most every one here feeds the Esbilac Powder from the pet store.
As for the pooping, he may not be getting enough in his tummy. His peeing is a good sign. More food=poop:)
I am in Orange Park, MrBooMY is in Jacksonville's North side. You can find our email addresses under Members List if you need any local help with caring for Hammy. Or just post on the Squirrel Board again. Every one will do anything they can to help you.

Esbilac puppy formula would be a better choice. WE recommend it as being very close to Mom's milk. If you decide to transistion from one formula to another it needs to be done slowly. we can walk you through it . In the mean while if baby is not pooping watch for signs of bloat. Baby's tummy should feel soft like a water balloon never tight or hard.
Hope this helps. :)

Adam:Welcome
Good luck with the baby, pls pay close attention to the advice members give you. It helps so much. And everyone is so nice here.
:multi My thoughts are also on the baby:Love_Icon your co worker took. Can you pls pass the advice you receive here to the co worker so that baby can have the proper care like yours.
You can even mention to your co worker about The Squirrel Board and ask he/she to join.
Again, welcome and good luck.

good luck with them though- you will never forget how fun it is to have these babies...you are at the right place to start!!
