screaming noise?

Hi to everyone again :)

Today Maxie was outside content and having fun. Then all of a sudden some of the squirrels made that screaming sound that we hear them make all the time. I always though it was because they were mad at another squirrel. But then Maxie got super defensive about being touched. We finally got him inside and he went to the kitchen window which he likes to do and started screaming for 3 or 4 minutes just like the others. He wasn't in contact with any other squirrels at the time so I don't know what he would be mad about. He is fine otherwise and back in his house now.

Does anyone have an idea why they make that sound?

They are warning other squirrels of a predator....bird of prey, a dog, a cat etc.

Fallen was in here today doing it when he saw a American Bald Eagle flying above. Maxie was antsy with you as he was in "Survival Mode" watching what he found threatening.
