I've had my little guys for about two weeks now and lately when I first go to feed them they are very hungry and try to suck in too mucha nd have aspirated a few times. I have the right tools to feed them, but it is not always fool proof. I tried turning them upside down when this happens, as I read on a blog on this site. The last day or two however one of my guys makes a funny noise, espessially at night that worries me. i don't so much hear the heavy breathing but his eating has decreased a little bit and now when he does eat he chokes ALOT MORE than normal. I am very worried about him. He just opened his eyes all the way and is beginning to walk (although wobbly) on his legs. I'm not sure if maybe the sound is just part of his growth or something for me to be concerned about. He is otherwise growing healthy and happy. They are all getting a little bit of a belly on them ( is that a bad thing). Anyways, should I do anything, I love these little guys so much, I don't want anything bad to happen so please help. Any idea's or suggestion's are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

no, gamma's baby, that is not what it sounds like. It comes out of his nose and he sucks differently...so fast!!! After he chokes, he doesn't want to eat for a second...it is almost like he need's to catch his breath. I have the same nipple as used in that video but that didn't seem to take to it so I used a different one. Should I revert back to that one? Thank you so much for all of your help. I hope to hear back soon. Thanks again.

thank you. I will listen for the clicking noise...is this something that I will be able to hear with the naked ear and also will it be an all the time occurance? If this ever does occur ( which I'm believing it won't, I am a christian and I have prayed over my babies numerous times!!!) where would I get antibiotics? There are no vets in my area that deal with squirrels? thanks again.

Hi and welcome Heidi to TSB. I read that you have no Vets in your area. We recommend you contact a wildlife rehabber in your area, who will have medication and the facility to care for this orphan you have found. We have many rehabbers here, that may be able to help you directly, or know of someone who can. To help facilitate that process, please contact Gammas Baby, or our Admininstrator Island Rehabber, to as to let one of them know where abouts you are located, so you can be put in contact with a rehabber nearby.

:grouphug welcome Heidi...I cannot stress enough that your baby needs anti-biotics. TSB has alot of contact info for someone to help you. If you can ask friends and neighbors for pet antibiotics, someone here can help you with the dosage. Hopefully a rehabber can be located. How is your baby this morning? Batytil is a great med...and is dispensed for alot of pets, hopefull you can find something soon!
Good Luck, sending prayers to you both:grouphug
