There are some creative people here that can condense OUR best info on Baby Sqs to something that I can distribute to the local pet stores.
While shopping via telephone for nipples, I had one pet store clerk instruct me that baby sqs are to be fed with a bottle and kitty milk:soapbox ...she argued...:pissed
I need a print out that I will distribute with the first steps and contact info to TSB...otherwise we are going to keep getting sqs that may have been found healthy and then unknowingly damaged by the good samaritans that are trying to help them:Love_Icon .
I need a survival sheet, just the basics, hydration , warmth and supplies.
This way we know we have reached more than just the finders, we have reached the people who are giving bad info...the retail clerks. If we can educate the pet stores employees...sqs will WIN, a better chance at life.
The info sheet needs to be a single page with brief but thorough instructions.
With a link to TSB.
The link will get them to us and then the magic can happen, the real info will be shared.
We have some great info and creative people. Will someone volunteer to help me on my mission.
My local pet store {2 miles from home.}..has nothing to support a sq, KMR and baby bottles, so I will also have to explain that a FAQ sheet will also help them sell the right products and increase their biz...no one likes bad results! or to be sent on a wild goose chase!
They will have to stock sq friendly products!
Next question...
Will it be cheaper to do this on MY printer at home, or Kinkos????
I plan on putting FAQ sheets at every store around here...they are all familiar with my face and my goals:)
Thanks so much!
Who can do this?
Thank you so much ...any volunteers????

This is a great idea! :thumbsup
I know others here are more experienced than me to submit the proper information:D so I will offer my moral support to this cause. I would also like to inform the general public too. :jump I can pass out fliers here to pet shops, etc.
Great idea:thumbsup mjs

This is a great idea...Alot of us can print it off the computer and have copies made to pass them out at stores around us too...Nation to Nation...

:thumbsup Thanks JudyB...we are losing too many babies because the finders are turning to the pet stores for advise and getting BAD info!:soapbox
We can easily change the outlook of baby sqs lives with a simple effort!
It shouldn't cost more than a few bucks to share what we know!:Love_Icon
And we all go to the pet stores...:) This will also help the rehabbers get healtier babies.
I was really mad and embarassed that my local small pet store {the same mgr 20 years, has raised many wildlife orphans} had not one thing to support a pinky...no nipples, no esbilac, and even told me KMR would work, and SHE knows my love for sqs... GRRRRR
At least a link would get them to TSB and proper care..
Tiny Paws are you up to it?
I cannot do it :thinking

Simple and brief, one page.
No rabies / bugs info...PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE GOING TO DIE FROM DISEASE CARRYING 50gr SQ...LOL:sanp3
A list of supplies.
The dos and don'ts
rehydration test and treatment
formula and feeding basics etc.
Each member could note legal/illegal status of state
AND MOST IMPORTANT A LINK TO TSB
What Else???
What Else???

Today I went to my local pet shop for a bigger dog collar.
While there I gave the owner a copy of the emergency care for baby squ's that Gamma sends out. Along with it, a pic of one of my babies and the web address to TSB. I included my name and phone #. I told her I fly under the radar with the help I offer.
I told her I can connect to the proper resources if anyone is ever in need.
She is very interested and appreciative.
Great idea Jackie! :thumbsup

Way to go JudyB!:thumbsup
Yes, excellent idea Jackie! My sis is actually an associate at our local petco (always buying sq supplies for care packages for me:D). She's frequently asking me, what if... and how do you questions. Haven't had anyone ask yet (knock on wood) but it would be great to have the information ready when someone needs it.:thumbsup

I went to my local petco today to get some formula for scraps and while i was looking at the powder esbilac and associate came up to me to see if i needed help and i had said no i was just comparing ingredients on two different types and she asked me what i was feeding. I lied and told her a flying squirrel cuz they are legal and greys arent. but she tells me if i give it puppy milk i will kill it, that they always tell everyone to give it kitten milk!!!! I told her that it was the opposite and she kind of got huffy with me and asked me who gave me my information, because they had been doing this for a long time and i told her that it was both my vet and my wildlife rehabber! (so i lied, shoot me) i told her that if she did not believe me she could look it up online, but that they should research these things before giving out false information!!!!
:soapbox :soapbox
Some people will do anything to sound knowledgeable even when they do not possess any knowledge at all!
rant over!:rantonof :frustratedx :hissyfit :the_wife :bash :pissed :ignore :attention :chair :sorry :get_em :sd
