i am introducing myself quickly as i just spent 30 mins writing and the message was lost. i will be appy to write more later but i feel this is an emergency.
my name is jme i rescue dogs. i had a squirrel rescue 10 years ago- and now have another. i am knowledgable (tho no expert), but i need help now.
my baby MAY have pnuemonia. i have done everything prior, that is prescribed- warming, rehydration, esbilac and so on...she's 5 weeks.
i have calvamox for a dog. can i give that to her for pneumonia? how much? for how long?
she is not clicking but was cold feeling and weak. she has a heating blanket but crawls out sometimes despite 3 layers of cover. she seemed OK this morning, but has dramatically weakened today.
this is short and to the point- please tell me if clavamox can help. how much and for how long.
thanks.

Clav is not great for rodents because it can cause GI upset and/or bleeding. However, if you cannot get Sulfatrim or Baytril it's better than nothing for sure. I will PM you the dosage for Clav for a squirrel of that weight, ok?

Forgot the pM, it hasn't been enabled yet....:)
Your squirrel weighs about 142 grams, so that would be a dosage of 0.05 ml given orally, twice a day. Make sure you've got .05. NOT .5, okay? Good luck!

ir - for my benefit - about 2 mg of the antibiotic needs to be delivered. Is that what the .05ml amount will give?

mine says:
when reconstituted eacl ml contains 50mg of amoxacillin as the trihydrate and 12.5mg of clavulanic acid as the potassium salt.
that is reconstituting the 15ml bottle of powder.
hope that helps. i didn't finish my pharm degree, so i can't say anything beyond that! sorry.
