Can a 5 week old baby squirrel keep itself warm @ night?

My baby squirrel is about 5 weeks old. Does he still need the rice buddy to stay warm? I live in Florida and keep the house about 78 degrees.

I think so, better safe than sorry. Our rehabbers will be back on in the morning, so you can check that out with them then.

I leave the heat under my squirrels for about a week after their eyes open -- so that's 4-6 wks old at least. Since your squirrel has no real buddies to snuggle up to, I would keep the rice buddy and/or a heating pad under him for awhile.

ok i have been giving him the rice buddy again. he like to chew and tug on the socks material.
