Little Milky Joe is now so happy eating solid food but he has not started drinking water out of the bottle I have put on the side of his cage. I am still giving him his formula but how do I get him to start drinking water? :dono

THe tend to find the bottle on their own just fine. But you can also put a shallow bowl with a layer of rocks on the bottom and just enough wter to cover the rocks. The idea is the rocks must be too large to swallow yet pervent the baby from sticking his face too deep into the water.

One thing that I suspect helps the babies learn to use the water bottles where I volunteer, is that they are offered esbilac in the bottles inbetween feedings and then that becomes the only source of formula while they are transitioning onto solid food.
