Hello, Found 3 babies fresh from a cut tree. 1 runt and two normal. We lost the runt a little a week into it. The other two were doing good and growing. a few days ago one of them started acting lethargic and feeling skinny. Hard to get her to eat. Now the remaining one was very active a few days ago, now acting lethargic, wants to sleep alot and hard to wake up to feed. Takes awhile for eyes to fully open. making a noise like a small sneeze sometimes. I'm kinda rambeling, but trying to get all the info out to you.

My guess is we have had her for 4 1/2 weeks. Maybe a two weeks old before we recived her. Feed her 6cc of puppy formula every 4 hours. tried a little syrup with water. Looks like she weighs 4 grams, if I'm reading scale right. Wants to ball up and sleep alot, especially after feeding. watching her now, breathing seems a little labored.

I'm going to try and load some pics
Thanks, were trying

Jodi,
I'm sorry but your squirrel does not look good at all. Are you willing to give her to someone with experience that has medication and a vet available?

I know you're trying your best, baby squirrels are very difficult to take care of.

The 5% rule is a feeding guideline - feed 5% of their weight in grams in cc per feeding I believe.

So - if they weigh 40 grams, then 40 x .05 = 2cc of esbilac per feeding.

Other TSB members - do I have that correct??

Ok I'm getting the handle on using the board. Sorry

she took a nap on me and now is active and walking around. Makes little sneeze sounds. eyes wont open fully, not big and round. does not feel dehydrated.

Jodi, it sounds like she has pneumonia and needs antibiotics quickly. I just pm'd you a phone number for someone in your area that is willing to help you tonight.

I really don't live in Disneyland or I'd help you.

I'm confident we will get you help from our Orlando area members

Keep that lil fuzzer alive for a while longer - heat / hydration / your touch.

Do you see any skin irritation / mites / mange ?

What is the peeing / pooping schedule?

How much are you feeding him how many times a day?

Good news. I hope the little tyke makes it. Shes' def. reading that scale wrong. That squirrel is way more than 4 grams. I'm glad she's trying everything possible to save the little one. I hope it ends in good news.

Update. "Spice is still doing well. Lee is doing a great job getting her back in shape. I was reading the post above and thought maybe it was Lee's screen name. When you said she was deaf, I was sad for a little bit. Then relized you meant definetly. LOL :D Oh Well. Were not out of the woods yet, need to get some weight on her. Hopefully Lee can then show us the proper way to take care of Spice and we can finish rasing her. Thanks again for everyones help and concern. Someday maybe we can help with someone with a situation.:thankyou

You've done a great thing by giving this baby to somebody that can help. I know it must have been hard, because it's easy to get attached.

Hopefully, this baby will thrive and get the opportunity to be released. Thank you.
