We have a squirrel that comes by to eat that had a little round cut on it's let that had just started to scab over last week. Well, not sure how it happened but it never healed and just keeps getting worse. I have a call in to a rehabber here in CT and I'm waiting for her to call me back. I was wondering if it's as bad as it looks. Also, if I have to trap him what would be the best method with other squirrels around. Here are a couple of pics:

It's a bot fly. It will fall out eventually and the area will close and heal.

Two of my yard buddies had them, and now they are all healed up.

Yep, Bot Fly.
If a sq gets too many on an extremity, they may cut off circulation. This is rare.
Usually the Bot Fly will run its course...one day you'll look and the lump will be flat...that's when fly has left the host and warble will heal on it's own. Heavy rains are usually a sign of infestation in an area.
Thanks for the concern of your fuzzies:bowdown

They are soooooooooo gross - and can be extracted if your fuzzer allows you to catch him. If not - probably best to let the ugly thing come out on its' own.
