Available to take babies in central florida

I am in central florida (Haines City) and am available to take in any babies found. I am a liscensed rehabber in oklahom,a not florida but have been doing rehab here for some time. I just lost my 2 year old squirrel to kidney failure.

Yes it was Hammy he did really well for the past couple of months but then just kinda wasted away...my heart is empty and I need another baby to take care of. All of the others we have released here survived the storm including Stubby and Brokeleg....Saw Sneezy today as well. No more Hammy though :(

Hi -

I have a 4 week old or so baby squirrel - found after TS Fay. I've tried to contact rehabbers in this area (Orange Park FL) but have been unsuccessful so far - understandable after the storm, but I need help as I have no experience but am trying my best.

I have a heating pad in box under 2 cloths - squirrel seems to like and is keeping him warm.

I fed him pedialyte yesterday and he's been eating esbilac today. Seems lethargic though - sleeps almost all of the time, though I don't know if that's normal or a problem.

If you have any advice or know of any contacts in this area, please let me know - thank you for your help.

If you live anywhere near Brevard County, the worst affected area, the Florida Wildlife Hospital is absolutely swamped with squirrel babies, but can only turn them over to licensed rehabbers. Their phone number is 321-254-8843.


They have hundreds of babies, so if you can help, that would be fantastic!

No, I'm in Clay County, which is near Jacksonville - thanks, though - I welcome all of the advice I can get. :)

Unfortunately I cannot take any from Brevard county because I am not a liscenced rehabber in Florida. Too bad though I would love to help. Wish I was closer to Jacksonville but I am quite a ways from there....south of Orlando.
