Please Help.....I think Rocky is dehydrated.

I made him that salt and water solution 2 weeks ago and gave it to him.........but he still is not as fat as some of the pictures I have seen of squirrels his age.......I think he is about 4 to 5 weeks old......one of his eyes just opened two days ago.
What about these pills for the water, can I give them to him.......will they help him?

OK if he is 4-5 weeks old he should be getting fed every 4-5 hours, about 4 times per day. Does that sound about right as far as what you're doing? How much does he weigh, and how much does he take at each feeding?

I'm feeding him every 4 hours.....he is taking about 3 to 4cc. I do not have a scale to weigh him with. Also he is a black Squirrel....if that makes any difference in how to care for him.

Yes.....I tried that His skin will stick up. Do I have to go back to salt and water solution again......I thought you can't keep doing that?

It may be that he needs more than 3-4cc at each feeding. That's what my 2.5 week-olds are up to now and your guy is much older. The fact that he is black is beautiful but not a concern -- he's an Eastern Grey Squirrel who happens to have black fur :). Will he take more if you let him? If not, try making the formula warmer than you have been to see if that will spark his appettite.

If that doesn't work, you should get some Fruit-Flavor Pedialyte and start him on a regimen of Pedialyte in between his feedings for a day or so -- just to rehydrate him. I can explain the deetails of that if it becomes necessary.

I gave him 2 teaspoon of powder with 4 teaspoon of warm water last feeding he ate almost all of it. I will feed him again at 8pm.

I fed him 6 times yesterday. He's a hungry boy.......it's hard feeding 4 kids and one squirrel.......glad I'm not working.
Also he had a problem with runny poop at first and then it seamed like he was constipated, but now he is pooping on his own and it looks normal.....I think......but what do I know, I've never seen squirrel poop before. LOL!
Today his other eye is opening! :D
