I know this is serious but do not know what to do. I have a grey squirrel that is about 1 to 2 weeks old. During the storm today it fell out of the tree along with some other babies. We put all of them on the fork of the tree and the mother took all of them but her. We brought her in and warmed her up several times and put her back but the mother would not get her and it was pouring rain. Anyway, I have raised babies before but it was about 5 years ago. She seems to be eating ok but will not poop or pee. I took a q tip wet with warm water and wiped her before and after she ate every time for a long time but nothing. I don't know what to do. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't know how often she should pee and poop but I am worried that she might die because we have had her since around noon and still no poop or pee and now it is 11:00 pm

Thanks for the quick reply! I am feeding her Just Born puppy replacement formula. I don't have whipping cream to mix with it, I plan on getting some tomorrow. I am feeding out of a syringe -- she is eating a little less than half a ml per feeding every two hours. I have her in a shoe box with a soft towel. The shoe box is on top of a heating pad on the lowest setting. She is warm and sleeps a lot. She burrows into the towel when I put her in there and looks pretty comfortable. She seems strong because when I get her out to feed she holds on to my finger and moves around a lot. She is strong too because I have a hard time holding her tail back when I try to wipe her. As far as the bloated question, I can't tell you if she looks bloated - I don't thinks so but she could be. It is hard to tell for me because I don't know what normal is.

hey taylor, i would use a t shirt instead of towel...they can get caught up in the threads of a towel...

1 ML = 1 CC

Simple :-)

Also just so that you know, if you use Esbilac powder, once you get the baby up to regular 2 to 1, switch to 1.5 to 1 after a few feedings. That is all you need, and cuts out the need for the whipping cream, which is quite expensive. This is coming from my friend PJ Garner who has rehabbed MANY squirrels, not just some random person. It's what my babies are on, and they are doing great!

You really need to know her weight in grams to asnwer that question properly, but you can also look at her 'milk line'.....at her age, you can see the milk in her tummy thru the skin. It should be halfway up the tummy -- probably 1.0 - 1.5 mls at the most. Every two hours is a little too often -- you need to give her time to digest what she takes in before feeding her again. Try every 2.5 - 3 hours. :)
