i had a female fox squirrel come around today (as she usually does), and noticed a smear of blood where she had been sitting.
she appears to be bleeding either from her, i guess vaginal, or, anal area.
she did not seem in any distress, and had babies a couple months ago.
shes fairly young still, and i have no clue about why she would be bleeding from that area.
would she bleed if she mated again?
i just like her lots and any insight on this would be great.
sorry for the weird question!

shes a wild if that helps at all...
i cant say ive ever seen a squirrel bleed unless they were injured.
she definetly did not seem injured (on the outside, anyway)

Maybe a male wanted to 'get busy' and SHE didnt and he bit her...:dono
Just an idea??:thinking

It is mating season, but I have never seen anything like that from mating, save to agree with what has been noted, that perhaps a male bit her. If the bleeding should continue, I would trap her and take her to a Vet for an examine.

its amazing to me what the squirrels around here (and everywhere for that matter) go through and still get through okay.
theyre pretty tough animals.
i guess its one of the reasons i absolutely love them.
shes the same squirrel i posted about possibly being shot a couple months ago and is 100 percent now, except for this strange bleeding...

and i hope she will be okay too.
shes pretty tough.

Ladies, (and gentlemen?) this probably sounds stupid, but don't all mammals menstruate (estruate?) if they fail to become pregnant? I know dogs do.:thinking If this is the situation it should stop shortly.

actually I dont think all mammals do:thumbsup When my sheep and goats go in heat there is no blood. (sometimes on the very first ever heat there may be some blood but its not normal)
And I think everyone who had female pet squirrels would have a fit if they started dropping blood:thumbsup
