Hi there.....My new 2 1/2 - 3 week old quints seem to be doing quite well. Question: Feeding with a syringe, all 5 love to suck up the 1st ml, the next 1 or 1 1/2 ml is a struggle. Is this normal? Are they still hungry? I continue taking my time to slowly make them eat the rest, although we get a lot of dribble.
I also gauge the look of their tummy as to not over fill.
Any suggestions? Thank you!!!

Those have to be the cutest little babies I've ever seen.:Love_Icon I use the Catac elongated nipples on a syringe? Have you tried those? My last babies loved it and they accepted it really well.:thumbsup
Aww how sweet:D
Your babies look good so precious Good luck with them.:D

Judy I think temperature is very often a factor when they lose interest....make sure the formula stays very warm. I like to fill 2-3 syringes at once and put them in a cup of hot water, meanwhile putting the rest of the formula in another hot water bath so that stays warm, too. This is really a good idea with quints because it takes so long to feed them all. It's amazing how baby squirrels will simply refuse to eat formula of the wrong temp....but then again, it's supposed to be coming from mamma squirrel and her body is over 100 degrees. :)

Thank you for the suggestions. I tried this AM to maintain a good temp and they seemed to eat more.
Lol, I felt like a proud momma this morning, they ALL had good, nicely formed poop!! I must be doing something right!
Amazing how everyday I see slight change in them like more fuzz, more comfortable feeding, etc.
Just like a human child, the pleasure outweighs the tiredness.

Sounds great, JudyB -- and you're in the right place for discussing poop. We are so concerned with poop -- good poop, bad poop, the color of poop, and whether or not someone is pooping ....we even have a smiley for it: :poop:poop:poop:rotfl
