Without having to go back and look through all your other posts, can you please tell us how old Rocky is? Is HE miserable, or do YOU think he is? What makes you feel this way? Most squirrels that have been pets, you can not just assume they will live happy and safely in the outdoors. I, personally, need a little more info before I can give you an opinion.
:goodpost I agree..Gamma..:thumbsup a little more info..

The more you can tell us the better. Is Rocky a grey squirrel?

Hun, the squirrel is not mean, he is just a wild creature that is confused, being presently trapped between being a pet squirrel, and wild squirrel. He obviously wants out, but there is a right way to prepare him for that transition. I think you really need the help of a rehabber to complete his rehabilitation back to the wild. I know you love him, and am glad you have come to our board to get him that help! If you can PM Island Rehabber, our Administrator, she may be able to recommend a rehabber in your area.

Oh dear, don't worry so much, maybe. If you are moving, he will move with you. It's not an emergency, and he is clearly your baby, and it is OK for you to feel this way. It will work out.
But if you put him half outside and half inside he will get confused. Are you going to live in a city place with no yard or green? Why do you think he won't be happy where you are moving? Some squirrels on this website live entirely indoors, as far as I can tell. It seems the key thing is to be able to get to a vet if you need to, and have one of those "full spectrum" lights for him.
What's your baby's name?

SOMEONE, PLEASE FIND THIS PERSON A REHABBER IN SC NEAR WHERE SHE LIVES. I would hate to see her let the squirrel go and have it starve.

There are rehabbers in S.C. ; Secret Squirrel, I believe, is in the Northern part of that State? There is Carolina Wildlife Care in Columbia. Just need to know whereabouts in that State this is needed.

I really would ask Secret Squirrel, what she thinks about this, as to what she would recommend for a squirrel like this one, if you have any questions on that. Much actually depends on the amount of human contact this squirrel has had, and whether or not it is presently showing signs of rejecting human contact, such as harder biting, and refusing to be handled, for such are good signs that it is still in the zone where it can be released. If so, it would need to be afforded a pre-release cage to break it's present habituation to humans, in order to wild up to the point where it would refuse human handling. Even a year is not as old as some might think to release a squirrel, if all this is in place, for 6-7 months is really the optimal age at which to begin releases, as I was told by my friend who is a licenced rehabber in Texas, 4 months being just the very minimum age they can be soft released. Fall babies wintered over are usually 6-8 months old, when they are released, and those born in the Spring released at 6-7 months of age, do very well not having to endure the frenzied chasing of the early Summer months. All in all, being older affords a squirrel an advantage, IF they are wilded up, and are fit to go that is!
