View Full Version : Have two babies....

Well kinda...I've sent some info from here on keeping them warm, what to/not to feed, etc and I'm trying to get the finders to hand over these two lightly-furred babies to my sisters...I've only seen a cell phone pic of them...I know we've got all the info on here but I'll probably need help if we manage to get these babies so here's your heads up. o.O

Any tips on convincing the finders the babies best chance is with a rehabber?

Gotta run!

If they are only "lightly furred" they are very young and will need round-the-clock feeding and care for a while yet. That would be a deterrent for many people who are already over-busy. Also, the younger they are, the easier it is to aspirate them when feeding, after which they will REALLY need a rehabber!

The woman agrees they need to go to a rehabber. Now it's up to the boyfriend..... o.O

Gah. She's keeping them another night so she can ask the ex-boyfriend if they can go to a rehabber. I'm getting really peeved because there is someone in the middle between me and the woman with the squirrels who is not allowing me to communicate with the woman. And this person will not give my contact info to the woman and won't give the woman's info to me. And now they're not even with the woman "T" anymore so T is on her own with the squirrels again.

All I know is they have been with T since Monday and are on kitten formula. Supposedly they are warm and wiggly but you can't see thier milk bands. They are being given "electrolytes" but I couldn't get a straight answer on what exactly they mean by that. They think it's a boy and a girl.

Where is that age chart so we can try and figure out how old they are?

I'm sure the info I copy/pasted did not get to the woman and I'm fairly certain what I said over the phone didn't get to her either. It would be really nice if I could just talk to her...

I will keep trying and will keep you posted...

The 5% rule - that's per feeding? If you have a 100gram squirrel you should feed them how much?

I finally got to talk to the lady...gave her all the info I've got...the babies are 2-3 weeks old...

Anyone got muffin's phone #? I know she won't be on until late...I wonder if she's up for a pair of pinkies?

The dude (whose back to being the bf?) is the one who wants to keep them and love them and cherish them forever...T seems to have a good head on her shoulders...we shall see I guess...

OMgosh...when Fallen was 2 weeks old I was getting up every 1 1/2 hours to feed him.....I woke up when he started searching and then I set my clock to it so if I was so exhausted and slept through him rouching I had a back up, then at 3 weeks he started rouching every 2 to 2 1/2 hours for feeding so I adjusted my clock for every 2 hours. Then there is the issue of aspirating and Lord only knows they haven't done their homework as the poor squirrels WOULDN"T BE ON Kitten Formula :shakehead This just saddens me and all I can do is pray that you are able to convince and save the little fuzziers! :Love_Icon

You might want to tell them how expensive it is to raise two baby squirrels.

I plan to call her tomorrow around 10:30 to see what the plan is. Hopefully she will have talked to the bf by then...I told her they needed round-the-clock care; maybe a sleepless night will help change his mind...

Great job TS. You've just saved these babies and given them a wonderful chance at a fabulous life. You must have great power of persuasion, atleast with something you're passionate about.
Does this mean TS gets to meet Muffinsquirrel, I'm soooo jealous. I'll never get to meet anyone from TSB, do I sound pitiful enough.

They're here and doing fine. They eat like little pigs! Pee and poop fine, and they've got sleeping down to a fine art! I'll get some pix first chance I get. They are SO SWEET! So far I am calling the boy 'Junior' and the girl 'Sister', but that is subject to change any time they tell me that their names are really ? and ?.
