I have three grey squirrels that I was going to release on another property but two escape from the release cage this morning. I wasn't going to release them here because I have never seen grey squirrels in this area, only fox squirrels. So now I have one black squirrel in the cage, should I just release him too. I don't know what to do...please give me some advice. Will they be okay here even though greys do not live in this area?

erogers I would go ahead and release the black squirrel since the other two are out there. The three will stick together because they know each other, and he will have allies instead of being off on his own in a strange place. Even though you don't see any greys around you they may be a mile or two away, which is nothing for a young adventurous squirrel. Let the black one go out to join his buddies. :thumbsup
I would also leave the cage door open. chances are all three will be curled up in the nest boxes again tonight. I would wait till well after dark and check before closing the door. :)

If they come back, you can always release them in another place.

Sounds like some little critters were too excited about their upcoming freedom! Good luck, little ones!
