WHY OH WHY does my squirrel only want high phosphorous / low calcium foods????:Cry Thanks for the link. I will check it out. I think SnB was working on a list she was going to post on the nutrition forum.

She loves papaya - which has a 4:1 ratio. I can now give her avocado without guilt if she is eating her papaya, too.

Pam, you wouldn't happen to know anything about rose petals, would you?

Rose petals are good, they love them...it's a natural food for them in the wild....as for the other stuff, here's what I do.....when I give Timothy something higher in phosphorus, I roll it in the rep-cal to coat it with the calcium, then he gets it...he has to go thru the calcium to get to the nut....Rep-Cal has no taste so they don't detect it....

Is rep-cal a powder or a syrup? I have cal-glucon syrup from the vet for her MBD, but now that she is feeling better, it is tougher to get her to take it.

Rep Cal is a fine powder...it can be purchased at petsmart or other pet stores in the reptile department....the container has a pink front to it....It cost only a few dollars and will last.....well lets just say you won't run out.....

Per 100 grams serving- Avocado 11mg Calcium / 41mg phosphorous

FYI- cilantro leaf is 1246mg Calcium / 481mg Phosphorous
oregano / marjoram is 1576mg Calcium / 200mg Phosphorous
rosemary is 1280mg Calcium / 70mg Phosphorous
sage is 1652mg Cal / 91mg Phos.
and Thyme is 1890mg Cal / 200mg Phos.

I'm not sure if these are safe for squirrels to eat. I'm sure you can ask around but if your looking for high Cal. lower phos. ratio foods, here are a few I found.
