my three 10 week old babies have weaned themselves off the "bottle" this week. Is is normal that they stop so soon, just the 25th they were drinking down 22+ 3 times a day, 26th 25+ twice, 27th 27+ twice, 28th two licked one had 6ml, 29th only one had about 10ml and it was a different one than the 26th. They are eating califlower, dandilions ,spinach, bark, buds, zupreem diet, strawberries a little mushroom( just thought i'd try) clovers, squash, striped sunflower seeds(not too much) pecans, peanuts, brocolli stem cores

Also I have been taking them outside for field trips(a couple hours at a time) and let them forage around and they have been coming back down to me every time and acting like they want something, Iv'e offered milk and they usually don't want it, maybe a couple of licks or two but thats it and then they go back in they cage and into their box. But tonight rocky, and parttime came back down the tree into their cage and box but the smallest female "smalls" didn't. Where do you think she is? there is a unused squirrel nest at the top of the tree that they play in, would she stay up there by herself? We do have other squirrels also but I don't no if they have fully met yet.

Your 10 week old female is up in a tree..NOW...by her self..?
She is too young to be out on her own..Id try tomorrw getting her back in her cage.or she is going to get hurt..or in trouble..:peace

I have been staying out there with them but today I thought I would give them a little space and went inside came out, went inside came back out and so on from about 4:00 to well, now. but I still have their cage and everything out there because she isn't in it.

Erm. . . I wish I knew how to help. . . but I just don't know, you know. :dono

I'd be all over that tree if it was my baby, calling a crying for her to come back. :Cry Sounds too soon for baby to be running off if you ask me!

I can't tell you how sorry I am.

I hope they are OK. I would think 10 weeks though weaned is a bit young to be completely on their own. If the little one doesn't come back, I would put up a squirrel feeder on the tree where she went. They usually need a "soft" release. That is to furnish food and water for several weeks. I usually do that for about 2 months, lessening the days I add food in the last few weeks.

Normal to wean that young. Fallen is 10 weeks and he weaned himself too. However to still get the nutrients from the formula in him I have put the formula in a shallow bowl for him to lap up, once he drinks what he wants I remove the remaining formula so he doesn't go back to it later after it "might" have spoiled.

I agree with others she is way to young to be out on her own.
