I have always found relief with aloe. A tiny dab on the bite is all it takes (too much and it dries stiff, which might encourage licking it clean :shakehead ). There has been some discussion in Ginger's thread about aloe, with the conclusion that it should be ok for a squirrel.
PURE aloe would be the best so you don't have to worry about other ingredients -- you can buy a small plant and break off little pieces to get the absolutely pure gel.
[I personally go with the convenience of the bottled version :D . Here is what's in mine - "Fruit of the Earth 100% Pure Aloe Vera Gel"
- Aloe Vera Gel
-triethanolamine
-tocopheryl acetate ("tocopherol" is Vit E; this would bea form or related compound)
-carbomer 940
-terasodium EDTA
- DMDM hydantoin
- diazolidinyl urea
It is apparently only the first ingredient that it 100% pure, not the whole thing, lol. These ingredients are not as scary as they sound, although I don't recognize all of them. But some are the gelling and hydrating agents. Still, if unrecognizable ingredients give you pause, getting an aloe plant would be a good choice. :) ]
