Hi....I just noticed a reddish growth/bumps on the scrotom area of my
little furry friend. I have no clue if it's life threatening or not. Do you
know what it might be?? Can I take him to a vet for this?? This is the
first health issue i have w/Paco and I'm very concerned. Any assistance
would be greatly appreciated....Debbie

Debbie, it could be fleas or mites if you see reddish bumps. Can you tell us more about Paco? Age, condition, is he a pet or a wild squirrel, what type of squirrel, etc? You're fortunate to be in Westchester as there are a couple of good wildlife vets there. You can't take him to a regular cat&dog vet, as you may know, because he's illegal here in NY.

How old is Paco. This could be a fungal attack. My little Sparks had small red dots on his lower body and I found out that is was due to urine. It was cured from an antiseptic cream.and keeping him clean. Its always better to take him to a vet.

:thankyou To all who offered their help. In response to some of my
helpers ques: Paco is a northern flying squirrel. I work in a school and
he is our class pet. We originally got him over a year ago....so he's close
to 2 yrs old. He was the teacher's pet (no pun intended), but when he
no longer felt he was giving him the attention he needed he offered him
to me and i gladly took him in...I just love him. So, as you can imagine, I was so worried when
I saw these odd bumps. I only hope to God that it's nothing serious.
I'm very grateful for the responses..it's comforting to know you guys are
out there...I just hope I can get an appt. w/a vet asap. I go to a holistic
vet for my dog and there is a vet there that will see exotic pets, but
she has limited hours. I need to keep looking for another vet.
I'll keep u posted...thanks again
