Aspiration pneumonia in 4 week old squirrel - Please Help!!!

Hello,

I have a 4 week on baby squirrel that I rescued a week ago. Unfortunately it has developed aspiration pneumonia: it's sneezing a lot, breathes heavily and is refusing food. There is no clicking sound to be heard. I can try to get some human antibiotics like Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanic acid) but I am unsure how to dose it. The baby weighs 60 grams (down from 63 yesterday). I have an appointment with a vet tomorrow, but I don't think it will make it until then. Please help!

Augmentin will work. We will need the size of the pill in milligrams. It is normally expressed as two numbers for this drug - 875/125mg, 500/125mg, etc.

You will need a 1ml syringe without a needle to dose this. You should be using a syringe of that size to nurse the baby as well, it lessens the danger of A/P.

Get us a size and we will get you the dosing instructions.

Hi, I got Amoksiklav for kids (amoxicillin and clavulanic acid) .

Can you please help me with how to dose this? I do have 1ml syringe - it's the only type I have used. Thank you so much for your help!
