Peaches will not eat!!
I switched to a bigger syringe today and i think she may have gotton some to fast. Is she old enough not to aspirate??? Would this be why shes not eating?? What do i do?? All she wants to do is sleep. The only other new thing...I got her a bird toy with the wood on it today..But shes ate since shes played with it. Why isnt she eating??

How old is she? If you hold her up to your ear, is she clicking with every breath?

What size syringe did you use and what happened to make you say "she may have gotton it to fast?"
Any age can aspirate.
If there is that possibility that she did aspirate and develops AP you need to start looking for AB's.
I'd do it anyway, rather safe then sorry. Lets just hope she upset her tummy and needs a break but
as SM asked, listen for clicking.

She has no clicking,she sounds normal....I used a 3cc syringe. She was sucking it down faster than i pushed it.
I just tried to feed her again, she took about 8cc and refused any more. Always after morning feeding she is so playful....But shes back asleep now. Shes peeing n pooping.

First go back to the other syringe.
What's the name of the one you switched to, is it SOL-M?
These syringes are WAY too smooth and the babies can suck
them way too fast without us even pushing.

AP is aspiration pneumonia.
AB is antibiotics.

How old is your little one?

See if anyone you know has ONE Cipro pill (Human antibiotic)
or Baytril (animal)
OR
Augmentin or Clavamox.

We can help you with dosing if she starts clicking.

IF this happens again, tip the squirrel forward, you can
GENTLY give the squirrel a quick "suck/inhale" on the nostrils/nose
(sort of like a infant nasal bulb) to get the formula out, then always
wipe with a Kleenex so they don't breathe it in again.

Get a weight on the squirrel, and the mg of the antibiotic
just in case.

The only thing i have is cephalexin, generic for keflex 500 mg. But exp date 9/15. Her weight last night was 219g

Call around to your friends and family and see if they have ONE
Cipro or Baytril pill. OR ONE Clavamox or Augmentin
Cephalexin is not the choice drug for aspiration pneumonia but
I will send dosing instructions.
IF you can find Cipro, Baytril, Clavamox or Augmentin
we will switch her over.
It's imperative to get her on the right antibiotic,
the Cephalexin may just be a bandaid until the correct
antibiotic is found.

I just fed her, she ate 15 cc..
The keflex i have is capsule, so just open it and mix in the water?
You said to give it to her atleast 2 hours after she eats???
Ive ask for cipro, noone has any.
Do i need to warm the med when i give it to her as i dont see her drinking anything cold?

You need to give the probiotic 2 hour prior to dosing the antibiotic or 2 hours after.

You can give her the antibotics after feeding, just make sure to wait 2 hours after giving the antibotics before giving her the probiotics for her tummy as antibotics are hard on their stomachs.

Yes. Twice today, 3 times tomorrow.

We are not far apart, maybe an hour depending on where in Cleveland. I am just the far side of Toccoa.

Sorry, I did not get a chance to check in to TSB this afternoon. I will PM my home phone number... if we can get you the Cipro it should work better, and quicker, for the AP.
