So our 3 squirrels are very active now ( about 12 weeks) and wont stay on us. If we take them outside would they run away? Also can I litter train them? Thanks.

Yes, they would very likely run away at this age outside. Litter training is possible since most do prefer a particular corner of the cage. Some carefresh bedding in a metal cake pan makes a nice litter pan. You don't want to use anything plastic.

My 2 are that age, i let them roam in tha garage with me while i have my coffee and the garage door is open. They see the trees ,,grass,, ducks, they dont go newhere. I believe it is the opposite if you raised them at a very young age(eyes closed) they will most likely stick around you .. but in all reality, if they want to take off they will lol
I guess I have to figure something out.. we don't have a garage... we have a shed but there is to much stuff where they could hide.
Also if they are running around outside a hawk or eagle could swoop down & grab one in a heartbeat and there's not a thing in the world you could do about it. That's been known to happen, and I can't imagine how heartbreaking that would be
Maybe you could build a wire lean-to against one side of the shed, or even your house? I googled "lean-to shed" just now, and here are some that I liked... LOL, as a matter of fact, now I'm wanting to start building one! My two are going to be released in the spring, so it would make an excellent pre- pre-release cage, too!
They'd have a blast hanging out pretending to be big squirrels LOL!
The hawks are bad around here
That would be their own lil effiencey theyre renting along side of the house lol. Friggin awesome! I would love to do that
They should not ever be taken outside unless in a cage!!!!
They are not capable of surviving on their own at this age. There are many horror stories on the boards here of a little one getting spooked and running off and there are very few good endings to this.
It is too late in the year for them to build a stash of food to survive the winter, they do not know how to build a nest.
Before release in spring, please read up on soft release, and build the appropriate cage.
Yes, never outside. The open garage is a really, really bad idea that we all frown on here. So, so, so many bad stories of them running off.
