    Default I have some questions

Actually, I've got a bunch of questions, but I'll start here.

Can they have the alfalfa/honey house sold at Petsmart?

What about dried pasta? My daughters rats love it and come running like its the best treat ever! Yum!

And, please somebody, when is the correct time to gather acorns. And what should they look like?

I have read the threads about them being toxic, but my outside squirrels aren't buying it. Maybe their just smart enough to avoid the bad ones?

Acorns are no any more toxic with Aflatoxin than any other nut is..... you just have to look carefully at the nut before feeding it to squirrel and never give a nut with black looking mold on the shell to your squirrel to eat (or) old nuts to your squirrel. I never freeze my nuts, hence cutting down on the chance of them getting Aflatoxin if they unfreeze and freeze again before feeding time..... only FRESH NUTS for my squirrels. *and of course even with these precautions -- we can never be 100% sure of the health of a shelled nut*

Some people give pasta as a rare treat.

Don;t know what that Petsmart stuff is. Clarification?

You've read out healthy diet thread, right:

I live by the healthy diet! Well, not me, but the squirrel does.

The alfalfa thing is a little log looking thing, for rodents to play on/chew on.
Talked to my daughter who says it also contains cedar, so its a no no.

Still wondering when to gather acorns, I'm thinking fall?

Well, that is when they're ready. DO you know about the float test?
