    Default Not sure if these acorns are safe, can you please help?

    Please if someone can tell me if these are safe, Ill appreciate it

    Hickory Nuts
    Red Oak Acorns
    Bur oak acorns

    All picked fresh, of course.

    I know hickory nuts are ok.
    I don't know for sure about all the different acorn types,
    always figured they were all good for squirrels.

    If the wilds eat then, mine get then.. just put the acorns in water first to make sure they sink, if they float, throw them away

    WAIT! Isn't it the other way around? If they have worm-holes in them, water goes in and they sink.....

    no ...once they have a small crack oxygen gets in which starts decay and they float, solid and closed are fresh and sink from the weight
