Re: Found a squirrel hit by a car
Hi Michelle,
Sounds like you got a seriously injured squirrel on you hands. God bless you for taking the time to help her.
Warm, dark, and quiet are the first needs to be addressed until you find a rehaber in you area.
Keep her in a small container or box so she won't thrash around. Place a heating pad half under the container, be sure there is plenty of ventilation so she won't get too hot.
If you don't have a heating pad, fill a sock with dry uncooked rice and tie a knot in the end of the sock. Microwave for 1 min and see if it's warm not hot to the touch...re warm as necessary. Wrap the "rice buddy" in a old T-shirt and let her snuggle up to it.
Cover the cage or container so it's dark, let her relax.
Keep the area quiet...no TV, music or people traffic. Let her rest.
I'll look for a rehaber in you area....what county are you in?
