I found 3 baby squirrels during the windstorm when hurricane ike hit my house, blowing them into my front yard. The other two died almost on contact, as they had harsher landings, but the little girl landed in the grass and we've had her for a little over two days. There hasn't been any complications until now.
For the first day, we had no internet access or access to a wildlife rehabitlitator, so i fed her Similac human formula. As soon as we gained internet access, we read all about them and i switched her to Esbilac Puppy formula. She is very dehydrated, so we mix 1 part Pedialyte to 2 parts puppy formula (in the powder form) and 1/2 part whipping cream. She is peeing and pooping great, but today her poop seemed kind of runny and it seemed like in the time that elapsed from one feeding to the next (i feed her every two hours, every three hours at night) she lost a lot of weight and also lost a lot of her appetite. Usually she happily sucks it all down. (i feed her with a syringe we got from the local Vet, drop by drop, as we've read) She is still dehydrated, but not as much as when we first rescued her.
What is wrong with her? I there any way at all we can save her? Our family has already grown really attached to her, although we knew that going into this there was a very high risk of her not making it, and we would be willing to do anything to save her little life.
