my 5 week old squirrel as pneumonia

We have three squirrels that fell half way down a 60ft pine tree. There were starving because there mother is dead.the are ok but the 3rd fell on a bunch of bricks.we feed them pedialyte and are now giving them krm.the 3rd squirrel started getting better but i think he got some fluid in his lungs. He is sneezing really bad and has a runny nose and can only breath though his mouth. We have looked for a rehabber but they are all full. We have only had them for 3 days. Please tell me what i should give him.

Do you have any antibiotics? Which ones? One pill is enough.

Tomorrow you will need to buy Esbilac puppy formula with probiotics and prebiotics. If you are still giving Pedialyte you should stop.

Your babies should be in a bin with a heating pad on low under half of the container. They need fleece or Tshirt material to snuggle in.

Can you post a photo? That will help us too.
What size syringe are you using? You have to feed upright and SLOW.
Do you have a nipple on the syringe?
What town are you in, we may have a member nearby that can help.
You will need a gram scale so that you are feeding the proper amount, and
so that we can dose meds for you.

The way to tell if your baby has pneumonia is to listen for clicking when he breaths. Sometimes it is very subtle. I would put him next to my ear and listen for clicking. If you hear clicking, it is imperative that the baby receives antibiotics.

Ciprofloxacin or Baytril would be the best but others can be used also. Just let us know what you have and we can help you. They respond very fast to antibiotics. If you don't have any antibiotics, maybe a family member or friend has an antibiotic.

If you are able to get the Esbilac puppy formula, it would be great. The KMR kitten formula will cause problems for the babies and is not recommended. Baby squirrels are fed 5-7% of their body weight per feeding. You would need a scale to weigh the babies in grams. Example: if the baby weighs 50g the proper amount per feeding would be 2.5-3.5ml. The proper feeding device is a 1ml (cc) syringe.

There are three? Wonder why he's solo. They usually sleep in a pile. Do you have a vaporizer? It'll help him breathe.
