One thing I truly miss from my boyhood is the sight & sound of Fox Squirrels. Most disappeared from my home area years ago primarily due to hunting pressure. I now live in an isolated area in the center of 2-3 hundred acres of Chestnut Oak forest in North Central Alabama. I am interested in populating this area with fox squirrels. There are quite a few gray squirrels and flying squirrels inhabiting the forest but only sparsely due to it's size. There is no hunting allowed and water is plentiful. If anyone could point me in the direction of a breeder that could supply me with adult mating pairs I would be forever greatful.
Many thanks, glad I found the forum.........

:Welcome :wave123 HI Mizzu, Glad to have you join all us squirrel nuts. I don't believe you will be able to find a breeding pair of Foxers, most squirrels (except Flyers) do not breed in captivity. What I would suggest is finding out if you have any rehabbers around that could use a new place to release their rehabbed squirrels. I bet rehabbers are always looking for wooded safe places to release their babies. It's an idea worth checking into. By the way, I'm in central Alabama.

Hi Mizzu if you have greys allready in your area even sparsley the chances are that even if you were able to release foxers there the greys would run them out.The greys see them as competition for food rescources. Stacey

:Welcome
Available food -> squirrels.
I think telling rehabbers you have a good place to release squirrels is your best bet. I have never heard of anyone being able to purchase breeding pairs of anything but flyers. Good luck!
