There are so many sad things happening today. Thought you'd like to see a new pic of Baby Face the silly chipmunk.

Baby Face was born 1 year ago. She was just a little bit of a thing compared to Sugar Plum (her sibling), and was the shyer of the two. She's just beginning to come to the back stoop to visit, and just this week took food from my hand.

That's Friggit the frog in the background. She and another hopped in the fish pond 3 years ago. Her pond buddy hopped away the end of this past spring. When she's not in the frog jacuzzi, she's dining out in the pachysandra. Here's a current pic of Friggit.

I thought that was a real frog in the first pic but I wasn't sure if it was just a decoration. He's really cute! I love frogs.:Love_Icon

Don't you just love the smile on her face. :D She looks like she's grinning ear to ear. She's quite funny too. When ever she goes out bug hunting and she hears me in the yard talking to the chippys, she always lets out a few croaks so I know where she is. She goes quite a distance from the fish pond too. Always seems to find her way back thank goodness. I watched as the other frog jumped over the stone wall and hopped off into the woods. I guess he/she was looking for a new adventure.

Hi Gamma. Some time in October I'll take down the small pond and store it for the winter. It' not very deep so I have to drain the water so it won't crack. The large pond (which isn't all that big)stays up year round and the fish and Friggit winter there. We keep a small amount of leaves in the bottom so the animals have a place to huddle and stay warm. This will all be cleaned out in early spring. The pond has to be at least 18" deep so that it will not freeze to the bottom, and we keep the the pump and filter running over the winter which provides a small amount of heat. We also have a pipe that comes out of the filter so that the water can aerate and keeps an small opening in the pond for oxygen. When it's really cold, we open this hole up manually. Some of our fish are 18 years old. We lost a couple this spring and one last year. I had no idea gold fish lived this long. Hope it was because they had a good home. Here's a picture of the pond last winter.

Baby face is a cute little chippie. Nice pond set up. Looks like you take good care of all the creatures in your area.
