Thanks in advance... I have yet another baby flyer question. My female has rubbed away hair on her forehead due to biting the bars on her cage. I think this is because she wants to be with us all the time. The male is fine - he is less craving of attention from people. I feel bad that I can't spend every minute with her! Has this happened with anyone else? I went to Lowe's, got out the saw and power tool, and built a cage with no bars, that is also larger and I hope they enjoy even more. Will her hair grow back? Even though she's sweet and adorable with or without her bald spot!

She should be fine how ever I am not an expert but I am concerned about the screen on the cage. I would hate for the little feet to get snagged on the screen. The bigger the cage the more room for them to burn off energy esp. if you don't pull them out everyday.

Just another FYI I know with ours they always wanted to be up high. Even our little female would psycologically get weird if she couldn't be up high.

Is it possible to raise that cage up :dono You have to remember squirrels like being up high but flyers really like it high x_biggrin

Hi Cindy, The screen is small enough that they will not get their little feet caught. The edges are tucked between the wood so that won't hurt them either. I hope I thought of all the little things that might harm them. They do come out every day, in the morning before work and in the evening after work. I think the female is getting very attached to us, and the male, who was shy at first, has become quite friendly himself. He's just a little more independant. Thanks for the input!

Thank you Momma squirrel, I'll try that too! They are such sweet little critters! They do love to hang out on the drapes, as high as they can go.

You might try carrying the little girl in your bra or shirt when you are home during the day.

I do! First thing, when I get her out, she makes a mad dash inside of my shirt. I have learned this - if you are going to let a flying squirrel run around in your shirt, make sure you are wearing a bra!

Update - little Georgia's forehead has just about all hair grown back. You can hardly tell she had a bald spot. Chewy is pictured below her.
