I have heard that flyers can develop all kinds of bone problems due to the lack of sunlight (and UV rays) so would a UV bulb be a good idea? if so what strength should i use?
any help would be appreciated =)

The key issue is that the bulb MUST be labeled: FULL SPECTRUM. If not, it's just a UV bulb but won't help your flyer or grey squirrel.

you can get a full spectrum tube bulb at lowes or your local home improvement store. they average about $12. i ended up going to petsmart and getting a full sprectrum bulb. it cost me a little more but i had no place to put the tube type light. you can find them in the lizard supplies aisle.
it is actually the vitamin d and d3 that the squirrels need so their bodies can utilize the calcium in their diet. you can get vitamin supplements that go in their water twice a week for the vitamin d and d3. my flyer tends to avoid the light.

I don't know if you have "Big Lots" where you are...but they have 2 types of full spectrum lighting. A desk top and floor model. Desk top is 24.99 and floor modle is 29.99 and both come with 2 bulbs. To reorder the bulbs runs around 12 bucks including S&H. :peace
These same type of lamps cost $70.00 in the internet.
