I am getting a flyer in January! 8 weeks old and not weaned yet. I was planning on taking him to work with me during the day to facilitate feeding and strengthening the bond.I am planning on keeping it in my shirt all day. Is this a safe/viable option? The last thing I want is to lose my baby to the great outdoors while carrying it from the car to my job or walking around in my store (I work retail, I have permission) Is it at all likely that the baby would leave my person? Any thoughts? If this option is unsafe I can always use a travel case and squirrelproof the bathroom.
my is about 6weeks, and i cant carry hem outside if he is not in a cage....

i used a travel case today to take mine with me to a meeting at work. she loves to run around my body but sometimes she comes to the outside of my clothes and likes to leap on counters or furniture as i walk by.
and if you happen to be ticklish expect to look like an idiot. my son and i get to laughing so hard as her little paws tickle us.
i don't think i would want to take mine to work with me on a regular basis. but when i am home she is free to snuggle with me and run all over me.

Its not advisable to let them out outdoors..or even indoor except on a squirrel proof area where he cant get hurt of run away..They are very fast..If they are tamed they will stay on you..But if they hear even a slightest sound that will scare them..They WILL run away..And they are playful..they will jump around without realizing that it will hurt them..So my advice is do not take him in your pocket or shirt. He can get lost in seconds..

I have rehabbed squirrels for almost 20 years and I have always carried the nursing babies in my shirt pocket. Yes, they went to the office; they also went to sidewalk cafes and philharmonic concerts as well as friends homes and virtually everywhere I else that I went.
When I acquired my little flyer, she required nursing and I carried her with me not only for reasons of feeding, but also because I intended to keep her and wanted to assure a close bond. During the entire length of time that I nursed her a problem never arose. She did, however, reach a point that she would leave my shirt pocket -- usually to roam around underneath my suit coat, re-situated herself into my jacket breast pocket or crawl into my pants pocket.
Too, I should mention that, due to their fastidious nature, my flyer did leave my shirt pocket to 'releave' herself. It was almost comical: she would crawl out of my pocket, up my sleeve to the bend in my elbow and pee... This only happened once before I had a 'Bounty' paper towel folded-up and ready to place in the crook of my arm. She would theereafter ALWAYS sit on the paper towel, pee and crawl back up my arm to my shoulder where she could look down and find my shirt pocket again.
I would venture to assure you that it is probably okay to take yours to your office. It is unlikely that the squirrel will attempt to escape. Remember: ALL she knows (her ONLY point of reference) is your shirt pocket & your body. Your pulse, warmth and odors are what is familiar and reassuring to her; should she venture out, it would not be to escape but only to satisfy her infant curiosity.
