eeek look at em!!!! SO ity bity they dont even have eye slits yet!!!

http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk194/natureagift2/DSCF0024-4.jpg

They are still critical but I have hopes they will be ok. They are all dehydrated and one has a lil bloody nose. but Its seems not very bad I cleaned her up and it seems to have stopped. Slowly warming them as they were like ice b.c of the weather we have been having.

Im fighting my head trying to determine if I should go ahead and order some Skunk FV for them or wait till I know they are stable.

Though I believe the FV I have would b ok since its 32/40 and skunks need the 32/45. And HEck skunk season just started so I may get more so I would need it anyways. But if Im thinking like that heck I need the Coon 40/25 since there season is officially started as well. and heck I can also get Foxes. But what if I dont get any at all..then I would feel quite blond lolololol
:rotfl

Meanwhile I shall bask in my lil cuties I have named Kow Holstein and Moo :jump

More pics later after they are stable!!!

I have no Idea what happened to momma. One baby was out squirming looking for momma. Sadly finder didn't know what to do and left her and she was attacked and baked in the sun I lost her. I went back at sunrise this morning and found these three scattered about motionless. Would have thought them dead but when I began to warm them they came back to life. Have to keep looking for more since its a possibility.

They wont start spraying until later on and generally wont spray unless threatened and as a baby they arent as potent lolololol.

If I were you, I would order Multi-milk, which is 30/55 and use that to boost the fat in the formulas if needed. That and maybe get a high protein low fat one and then you can mix it up to be the right percentages no matter what species you have.

The little tykes are cuties.

Damn...Mandie I am pretty sure this is a case of rat poison (warfarin or similar chemical). If mamma got into some, it would pass to the babies in her milk. So sorry, sweeties.....:(

NaturesGift, I'm sorry to hear two died. From what you've said it sounded like there were in bad shape coming in. I'm sure you did all you could.

If it's Warfarin poisoning, Vit K is an antidote, but the damage is probably already done, and most poisons are laced with other toxins as well, anyway.

I hope the last one pulls through. :grouphug

I lost them all. :sad.

I went back to where they were found with a flash light and dug out where the babies seemed to be coming from I found a hollowed out area no more babies and no momma. I was hoping to find momma to get a better guess as to what the heck was going on.

This was my first lil baby the lil girl I got yesterday night. the babies I got today were all boys. :Love_Icon

But this was my first baby. Her nose was bleeding when I picked her up. But the ppl who found her admit that their dog was "playing" with her.

Skunks are just to adorable.

I may or may not be getting more tomorrow. Some older babies have been without mom since monday. Finders dont know if they are still alive they just wanted to know of I thought they were diseased and if I would help them if they were still alive. Said they would call me back tomorrow if they are. :shakehead

Thanks for doing what you could for the little ones. So sorry that it didn't go well.

I've become quite a fan of skunks... yet another frequently misunderstood animal.

So sorry Mandie:( They were very cute. Way different than the kind we have here. Yours have more white.
I think IR us right about them being poisoned. Makes me sad and mad:mad:

You are sure getting a heavy dose of a life as a rehabber:grouphug Most people don't know what a hard job it is to try and save animals that have 3 strikes against them when you get them. Bless you:grouphug :grouphug

Awe Mandie... I know you were so excited to find these little guys. I'm so sorrry you couldn't help them. I am sure they would have come to love you.:Love_Icon The fact that momma was just gone, and all the babies declined one by one... I hate to suspect poisoning, but I think IR may be right. I'm so sorry.:grouphug

Saying a prayer for the other skunks. I hope there isn't something going around.:grouphug

You need a squirrel. One for the success stories.:Love_Icon

Are there any survivors at all Mandie?
How very very sad.
Isn't the treatment for Warfarin mega doses of Vit K?

I was SO hoping to watch little skunksters grow up. If it was rat poison it's a double tragedy because most likely more critters will be poisoned. Thank you for keeping the little guys in loving hands until they were called home.

Can you get a necropsy done on them to determine if they had been poisoned?

It's so tough to loose even one animal...I'm so sorry :grouphug I just hope these other people find these new babies alive...

NaturesGift

Yeah I have the babies in my fridge. I am trying to find a vet willing to necropsy them. b.c if it isnt poison and is something new I need to know what I can do and should be watching for.

Well Sadly the new babies all died as well. She said she lost 3 last night. (she wouldnt meet me last night. Only today this afternoon in town. ) And the lil guy I did get from her I named "Scotti" on the spot. He was gasping and clicking when I got him. I rushed him home and nebulized him and his breathing calmed and he seemed to be coming around. Getting active and noisy. I beganto subQ him and started antibiodics. And Then he went down hill his clicking got louder and he began to convulse and he passed away. :sad

Rip lil Scottie. He was 100grams and so much bigger than yesterdays babies who were in the upper 60s and 70s in weight. He was at least a week older. When he came around and seemed ot be improving after nebulizingand fluids I took a pic in hopes all would go well. But I just have a way to remember him by. He was soooo different from yesterdays kids.

If only the finder wasnt afraid the lil guys would spray her they would still be alive.

Poor little guys. Ignorance wins again. Sigh. Good thing there's folks like you who can balance the scales in favor of the critters--and there are so many who need help.

somethings are so wrong with a big capital letters...

poisoning anything is a bad, bad thing...

and letting babies in your care die because you can't/won't get them to a rehabber in time...

Mandie.. I just don't know how you do it ... having babies die is one thing... but seeing the stupidity of people causing it is something else...:grouphug

you must have endless patience or forgiveness... you are such a good rehabber...:grouphug
