Hi. Our flying squirrel has begun to hump wrists whenever he can. Have any of you had this problem? Will he stop? What should we do? It's rather embarassing...

Haha, that's funny. Well, to me it is, probably not you... But wait until you take your friends in and introduce them someday... And your wonderfull little friend craps on em... hehe
Anyway, I think that he'll probably stop the humping thing pretty soon. Mine did it for awhile but I didn't even remember it until I read you post. :)

Actually, we think it's hilarious, but slightly obnoxious when you're just trying to go about the house, you know? Good to know that yours did it too though!

Don't worry, flyers are notorious for this. Just get him a small stuffed animal toy of his own and maybe he will transfer his affections to it.
It's a form of playing and/or dominance to flyers - as soon as the pups are up and about, the humping starts. It doesn't seem to bother them in the slightest - the 'humpee' will continue to eat or whatever while the 'humper' is busy doing his (or her) thing. Sometimes their will be a whole line of them - kinda like the squirrel version of the Bunny Hop. Now there's a lovely mental picture for you to carry with you throughout the day!

Oh, I forgot to mention that they will even do this while they are climbing on their tree branches in their cage, with the 'humpee' climbing around having a good time, and the 'humper' kinda holding on for dear life, dangling in the breeze, so to speak!
