For some reason, people often have a problem telling whether a flyer pup is a boy or a girl. This is something I wrote on the National Flying Squirrel Board some time back.(And Boy! did I get a lot of teasing about it!)
"Well, I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep, so I have been playing with the babies. And maybe this will help some of you out a little.
My babies are 6 1/2 weeks old. From the base of the penis - where it attaches to the body - to the anus is about 1/2". All this litter are boys, so I can't measure a female, but I doubt that there is much more than 1/8" space on them. And let me tell you - I never, in my wildest imagination, thought I would be sitting around at 2:00 AM measuring the private parts of flying squirrels!!! "
Hope this helps some of you out, too.
